Eurovision Song Contest, The Story of Fire Saga Movie Review

Rachel McAdams, Sigrit Ericksdottir, Will Ferrell, Lars Erickssong

The Story of Fire Saga is about two childhood friends from Iceland whose life's work is to win the Eurovision Song Contest. The Netflix movie stars Will Ferrell as Lars Erickssong and Rachel McAdams as Sigrit Ericksdottir, a duo band called Fire Saga. Pierce Brosnan plays Lars' father who disapproves of his Eurovision dream.

It starts in a little town called Husavik, moving on to the capital, Reykjavík and a big finale in Edinburgh. If you ask me, I would probably also recommend to watch the movie just for the beautiful landscapes of Iceland and the majestic architecture of Scotland.

I can't help but feel that I have came across this story before. Swap the characters, locations and incorporate Will Ferrell's comedy and you get a brand new movie. Ish. The story starts with Fire Saga finally getting a shot at the Iceland's Eurovision preliminary round after years of trying to get a spot. From there on, the duo went on a journey towards fulfilling their destiny and at the same time, discovering who they are.

Elsewhere, the story feels like any other Will Ferrell movies. The movie was co-written by Will Ferrell and Andrew Steele. If you like other movies by Will Ferrell, you would probably enjoy this one, too. There is an emotional moment near the end of the movie. You have to see it for yourself to find out.
